What are Essential Oils?
Essential oils are naturally occurring, volatile aromatic compounds found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants. The physical and chemical properties of the volatile aromatic compounds that compose essential oils allow them to quickly move through the air and directly interact with the olfactory sensors in the nose. Such unique properties make essential oils ideal for aromatherapy. The type of volatile aromatic compounds present in an essential oil determines both the oil’s aroma and the benefits it offers.
Essential oils can be both beautifully and powerfully fragrant and have long been used for food preparation, beauty treatment, and health-care practices.
Why dōTERRA?
dōTERRA have an exceptionally high standard when it comes to doing business. Everything from scouting the world to find plants, the growers they choose to work with, the processes for extracting the oils from the plants, the intensive testing processes they use - everything they do is to ensure the we have the highest quality of oils imaginable in each bottle.
dōTERRA sources its oils from over 40 countries — more than half of which could be considered developing countries. To ensure that small scale farmers and harvesters in disadvantaged areas are treated ethically, dōTERRA introduced an initiative called Co-Impact Sourcing which ensures that small scale farmers and harvesters in disadvantaged areas are treated ethically.
Additionally, dōTERRA have created a charitable organisation called the Healing Hands Foundation which provides funding and resources to projects in communities where the oils are sourced. Past projects include building or sponsoring existing medical clinics, installing drinking water and irrigation systems, building schools, and providing other educational resources such as vocational training programs.
It is this amazing combination of quality, ethical practices and charity that make me so proud to be part of this company.
