Fresh Start

Whenever I’m sitting down at the computer, I love to have the diffuser on to set the atmosphere for what I’m doing. This combination of Clary Sage, Ylang Ylang, Lavender and Sandalwood creates a calm and relaxed tone which is my preferred state to work in. With its floral notes, it is perfect for Spring and you’ll love it, whether you are working or relaxing.

Happy Vibes

I love having dōTERRA essential oils on hand to support and adjust my moods. I woke up feeling quite flat today with an edge of anxious jitters. There was no obvious reason for the ‘bleh’ mood but I knew I couldn't allow this feeling to control my day. In my diffuser, I chose to blend Copaiba, Lavender, Blue Tansy and OnGuard (Protective Blend) to shake things up.

Sweet Dreams

For those of you who really enjoy the sweet scents, this may just be the night blend that you are chasing.

I have shared before that Lavender and Cedarwood have calmative and sedative properties which is why they are regularly used in diffuser blends at night.  Marjoram is usually associated with cooking and it's sedative and relaxing properties don't tend to be discussed, but these qualities make it perfect to be used for sleep.

The ability to uplift and invigorate are qualities of Wild Orange that I have previously shared, so you are probably wondering why I have put it in a sleep blend?  It is because Wild Orange is a clever little oil and has calmative and sedative properties too!  It makes Wild Orange a great oil to have on hand because it so versatile.

Lavender Lullaby

Sometimes when we have a lot going on in life, sleep can evade us.  It is nice to have a diffuser blend on at bedtime to help you relax and fall into a deep sleep.  Lavender Lullaby is a lovely blend that is perfect for these situations.

Lavender and Cedarwood are both calming and have sedative properties which will help you go to and stay asleep. Bergamot is assuring and relaxing to help you let go of some of those stresses that might be keeping you up.  Those deeper notes of Vetiver are very grounding and relaxing, not to mention that this oil also contains sedative properties.

Breathing in these calming and sedative oils can help you relax and get that deep sleep you are chasing

Evening Chill

This blend is not only a beautiful combination of floral and citrus notes, but it also has a wonderful balance of relaxation and uplifting. I personally find this combination of oils really positive for my anxiety and depression, let me explain -

Patchouli is calming and stabilising. It is the Oil of Physicality so it supports you to become fully present in your physical body. My anxiety often gets me stuck in my head which is both stressful and exhausting. Often it is when I come back to my body and the present that I realise how much I have needed it.

Lime is the Oil of Zest for Life, so I loves to lift you up and get you engaged again in what you have to be grateful for. When my depression has been like a dark cloud in my mind, Lime can be like the sun breaking through and making things seem lighter.

Lavender is calming and helps you be more self aware. As it is the Oil of Communication and Calm, it can help to encourage emotional honesty and give you the space to share your true self with others. Sometimes mental illness can be very isolating so feeling supported to communicate as your true self (rather than putting on a mask for others) is gratifying and liberating.

Grapefruit is the Oil of Honouring the Body. It helps you to listen to your true physical needs and impulses, and to take responsibility for what you feel. I think that this is important as when you spend so much time in your head, and not your physical body, you can neglect and mistreat it. Once Patchouli has brought you back into your body, Grapefruit helps you listen to what it wants to express to you.

Ylang Ylang is freeing and playful. It is known as the Oil of the Inner Child and allows you to connect to the intuition of your heart rather than focusing on the mind. I find making decisions difficult because my mind overthinks and sends me into a state of overwhelm. Being able to listen to the heart means that I may not always know what I want, but sometimes hearing what I don't want can be enough to allow me to move forward.

These oils work so well in this blend because they work together. If you don't need them to do all this, that is ok. They still smell amazing and will help relax and uplift you.

Relaxation

This blend is great to put on at the end of the day, when you know you have done what you have to and you can start unwinding for the evening. For that matter, I guess it works just as well on a Sunday, when you have absolutely no intention of achieving anything, including getting out of your PJs :-P

The Relaxation blend has Lavender, Cedarwood and Frankincense which combine with their calmative and grounding effects. The aroma has depth, with its woody notes more apparent than the floral of Lavender. You can almost feel your worries disappear when you have this in the diffuser.

Sinus Relief

dōTERRA have some amazing, ready-made blend to help you get through patches of cold and flu - yep, I'm talking about Easy Air and On Guard - but sometimes it is nice to change things up. This blend combines Peppermint, Wild Orange, Eucalyptus and Lavender to provide relief to the sinus and airways.

Lavender's antibacterial properties and Eucalyptus' cleansing properties team up to help cleanse the air which is definitely needed when germs have come to visit.  Peppermint and Eucalyptus combine to help open the airways and Wild Orange can help support the immune system.

These oils are all calming and uplifting which is perfect when we aren't felling our best selves.

Ocean Waves

If you are looking for a fresh and calming blend, how about trying Ocean Waves?

The combination provides a nice balance between the sweet notes of Spearmint and the deeper, comforting notes of Lavender. Lime is known as the Oil of Zest for Life so it is beautiful to use to instil joy and hope, particularly when life has got us down. Spearmint is so fresh and vibrant, how could it not uplift us? And that just leaves Lavender. Most of us associate Lavender with sleep but those calming properties it possesses can also be used during the day.

This blend would also be great to use if you need to have a conversation with someone that you might be dreading a little. Lavender is the Oil of Communication and Calm which will help aid verbal communication while keeping the mind calm. Spearmint is the Oil of Confident Speech so it inspires clarity of thought and confident verbal expression. And Lime will encourage emotional honesty. What a perfect trio!

Stress Less

Stress Less is a beautiful blend to have in the diffuser. It combines the woody aromas of Cedarwood and Frankincense with the floral scent of Lavender.

Cedarwood brings with it support, Frankincense its grounding qualities while Lavender is calming. A brilliant trio when feeling stressed.
